John T. Blount

Rotary International Director – 2009 - 2011

John Blount is a Director of Rotary International for 2009 to 2011, selected by representatives from twelve districts in the western United States and parts of western Canada.

He started in Rotary at age 27, was President of the Sebastopol Club at age 32, and was the youngest Governor of District 513 at age 40.

RID John is an extremely high-energy speaker who is in great demand at Rotary events. He brings an interesting and unique perspective of our organization as well as a history of training leaders in business, Rotary Clubs, and Rotary International.

His Rotary credentials include 19 years as an instructor and three years as Training Chair for incoming club presidents at Far West PETS. He has trained District Governors on the west coast for 14 years, served four years as Instruction and Curriculum chair for GETS, and served as chair of all instruction for incoming Governors on the west coast of the United States in 2007-08.

He was one of 36 Rotary world leaders selected to train over 500 incoming District Governors as a Group Discussion Leader at both the 1993 and the 1994 International Assemblies.

John has served on several organizational committees that deal with Rotary’s future, including "New Models of Rotary Clubs", "Rotary Action Groups", three RI President nominating committees, and Vice Chair of the 2008 International Institute.

He and his wife Patti are both members of the Rotary Club of Sebastopol. Patti has served on and chaired the District 5130 Literacy Committee promoting club literacy programs and the Dictionary Project. They are major donors and members of the bequest society of the Rotary Foundation.

Dr. Blount is a dentist, in private practice in Sebastopol, California, but his background as a musical performer, coupled with a history of multi-media production, guarantee a delightful experience for those who enjoy hearing about Rotary and what it accomplishes.
